Annually, over a million homeless children begin school in America.
At St Francis House in Gainesville, Florida we accept families and children.
A local organization, Share, recently provided backpacks, school supplies for kids, and a back to school party for parents and children.
While we adjust to more children as guests in our shelter we’re writing today to let you know how you can help. Your support is so important! We can’t do it without you.
Our media/play room needs your help! Santa Fe College gave us three new computers through their outreach program. New computers will provide educational games for children and job searches plus resumé writing for adults. For our young guests, that’s just the beginning. Please help us give them a welcoming space where they can play and learn.
Our needs list for the media room:
Paint for walls (2 gal.)
2 small tables and chairs
Heavy duty toy organizers (2)
Bean bags for our reading corner (2)
Books for middle and high school age readers
Educational and/or brightly colored wall hangings
Educational games (Concentration, Memory, Apples to Apples)
